2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self‑controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
What a present challenge this is for men today. Although this entire verse is rich with truth, I set my focus on this one word…temperate. In the original greek, this word is sṓphrōn which can be defined at 'sound, safe or balanced'. Having an 'inner outlook' which regulates outward behavior. Yea, just ponder that for a moment and see where it takes your spirit.
In this chaotic world we live in, it can feel like there is very little to take safety in or few people to rely on. Men, we are being called to have a strength and steadiness within that will balance us and provide safety without. We are called to be divinely focused with a steady footing. Let's rise to our calling and lead as God has called us to.
It feels like our young generation has more confidence in the power of Harry Potter than in God himself. I would never have believed that a time would come when so many Christians would loose confidence in the creation story of the Bible and place some form of belief in the humanistic view of evolution. Why do I take issue with this? Because its fundamental to our faith and misplaces a truth for a lie. We must first establish our starting point.

Prayer is communication with God. When it's done right, there is listening, discussion with God, and a huge dose of giving thanks…and not just asking for stuff.
